Just For Laughs, Yonge Street, Toronto

24x24 oil on canvas Sold
Thanks everyone for your great comments regarding realism vs impressionism. Reading through them, I realize that I am a little "uptight" in my approach to painting and need to relax a little and not worry so much about a distinct style. There were some thoughtful comments about letting the subject decide, and also to possibly incorporate both styles. A quick read through them will reveal some choice tidbits of  insight well worth taking to heart.
I will be exhibiting at the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibition again this year and if you are in the area July 8,9,10 you can find me at Booth 262.
The banners advertising the "Just For Laughs" show influenced my title choice for this painting of Yonge Street in Toronto. The Hard Rock Cafe is visible under the Expedia sign.

As always, such great values and just the right amount of detail.

Each rainy day scene more incredible than the last. It seems that you've found your way in the realism vs. impressionism battle.

I often think that style is something that develops on its own as we paint.

I came by looking for the painting you posted on DPO and found one of your famous rain reflection scenes instead. You nail it every time!

Nice painting yet again! I missed commenting on your last post. My opinion would be to incorporate both styles which would make the painting interesting. Give details where necessary, like the subject in focus. However, its easier said than done as then we become conscious while painting and lose the spontaneity. So the best thing is to paint in a style which you enjoy :)

How nicely busy it is here! A wonderful image in your well known technique! One again, tones, contrast, everything is there. And the wonderful wet reflections!

I did not read the discussion yet, but in my own opinion, keep on doin' what you're doin'.

If worrying about personal style is what keeps you up nights, then worry even more!
If chugging gallons of coffee is what does it, keep it up.

I could pick one of your paintings out of a forest of paintings from a mile away.
