Red Mustang, Yonge and Queen Street, Toronto

18x18 Oil on Stretched Canvas
I couldn't decide whether to call this painting "Strongbow"or "Red Mustang". Often there is something about a scene that really grabs me and in this picture it was the "Strongbow" beer sign. I  have a tendency to want to paint these things with more detail, so I gave in and painted the sign a little tighter than the rest of the painting. Still deciding if I like the contrast.
I also received notice that I have been accepted into Toronto's major Outdoor Art Show this summer at Nathan Phillips Square. I am very excited about this!
I have been "down" with the flu, so I hope to make the rounds soon and see what everyone has been up to!

Hope you are feeling better soon and congrats on the show. I love this one. Your eye dances between the sign and the car - very neat. I also love all the warm oranges, against the blues.
(as an aside, my son is learning to read and he just came up to the screen and read 'Catherine Jeffrey', so we are high fiving to your name)

Hi Catherine. I hope you are feeling better today--the news of your acceptance into the Toronto Outdoor Exhibition is a sure-fire cure I think! That is a very difficult show to get into, so this only reinforces the high caliber re your new body of work.

Congrats on your acceptance to the show! Hate to hear you're under the weather. Hope it passes soon!

I really like the dynamic feel of this one. Love the way the geometric elements of the buildings and street sign frame the sign. I also like the way the left side recedes into the fog. Great atmosphere!

Hi Catherine and congratulations on beinb accepted to the out door exhibtion. I would say justly so. Love this piece and the redI am wondering if the sign does stand out a little too much. Could be wrong though. Kay

On second thoughts Catherine, I think you need to decide which is the focal point of the painting the sign or the car. Otherwise absolutely love it. Kay

I came upon this posting somewhat belatedly. Love it. Strongbow, not beer: really good British Cider. Darn near a health food drink. Anyway, love the piece.
