24x24 oil on canvas
There were so many exciting things in this image: umbrellas, great reflections, and the lone figure walking down the street. I decided to switch to a more traditional palette and didn't use any black (which I often include). I used ultramarine blue, permanent alizarin, transparent red iron oxide, viridian, yellow ochre, cadmium yellow medium, titanium white.

Catherine...This is a wonderful piece of work! I just love your usage of vibrant hues along with neutral greys! Gives a wonderful effect!
This is such a dymamic painting-the vertical divisions ie poles really add to the dimension and frame up the right hand side -great composition-beautiful rhythm and push-pull-but what i like best is the energy moving throughout the work
You are always an inspiration to me Catherine. Another wonderful atmospheric painting.
Super painting, great reflection. I love it when you say which colours you've used.
So good.

Just found your blog - I love your work! You capture the rich colors of a rainy day beautifully! Look forward to seeing more.
This is very different.
Comparing it to "Rainy Day in Chinatown", this is so different I can't really say what it is that impresses me.
Perhaps the lack of black renders it less stark...
Sometime re-do "College and Spadina" and leave the black at home and see what happens.
