Bay Street Rain, Toronto

24x24 oil on canvasSold
There is nothing like an upcoming show to get one motivated. There was a time when I came into the studio, checked mine and other blogs, and procarastinated a "little". Now I come in, pick up a brush, and get going. I have to say that I really enjoy the momentum and the production, even though it is sometimes exhausting.
I did a similar scene to this a while back, but wanted to revisit it in a square format. My focus this time was the streetcar tracks and cables. I think it is a little darker and drearier, reflecting our weather for the past week.
If you are in Toronto for the Toronto Outdoor Art Exhibiation, visit me at booth 262.

I always have to stop and stare for a while at the street scenes you paint. Normally I have no interest in the subject and find many street scene paintings to be vapid and boring. Yours amaze me. I feel the atmosphere and the weather and the presence of the street. I used to live in Toronto but am out on N. Vancouver Island now so can't stop by your booth - wish I could! Hope you sell a lot!

I like this square format, you captured the atmosphere well, it does look very dreary! I know, because our weather has been the same. Hoping for sun asap!!
Good luck with your show, keep us posted.
That momentum thing is great, wouldn't it be cool if we didn't have to cook or clean, or all that other stuff and just paint? (I think I could become a crazy recluse painter)

I love your rainy street scenes and this one especially! Love all the subtlety from the different grays with just a few bright color punctuations, the shaft of light in the distance and all the intricate reflections. It's a beauty!!
