8x10 Oil on board
Storm chasing can be a lot of fun, especially when there are lots of great scenes to be captured. A few days ago, I headed into Toronto when the forecast called for stormy weather. Mother Nature cooperated, and there was a wonderful steady rain. I took lots of photos so hopefully I will be inspired by a few! The best part of the trip was discovering an espresso bar where I had the best latte that I have ever tasted!!! I love Toronto.
I am finding that getting ready for this show is creating anxiety in my life, and putting a damper on my muse. If anyone has any suggestions on how to de-stress please send them my way! (Of course I am trying to finish every painting I wanted to take along.)

This one is really striking Catherine. I love where her feet hit the ground. Not sure about the de-stressing - but I always love a coffee and sitting on the porch.
Wow...this is very lovely! All the best for the show ( hope my wishes help :)
When is it?
Lovely, Catherine. Your show is going to be great. Don't worry. Stress relievers? A long hot scented bath with a candle. Or a walk in the woods.
How about, "what will be, will be"! C'est la vie! That is the attitude that seems to work for me, but gotta really believe it! (Besides, your paintings are great, so there's not much to worry about! Love this lone figure, in her own world...
WOW Catherine--well worth the wait!
I like the solid forms in this painting and your pallet ..and quite like your 'storm chasing' mission.
as far as simplifying your show stress, one artist I know who does a lot of these shows says she lays all of her paintings out via the computer and says it saves a LOT of time setting up...
Storm chasing! How adventurous, Catherine! I love this painting, the headline should read: Jeffrey at her best!
Thank you everyone for your kind comments. I will give those de-stressing ideas a try. Jan, I really like that idea of laying them out on the computer. I was going to find a spot in the house, but that would be even more stressful!
Ramesh, thanks for your comments and best wishes. The show is July 9,10,11.
Most of us moan when it rains. From now on I'll remember you out with your camera, capturing fresh images for future paintings! I'm sure your show will be successful. Your paintings are amazing!
I love how you can capture the rain. It looks inviting to go out and splash in! What is helping me destress lately is to spend a few moments doing a "brain drain" in a notebook. Just splashing out my obsessive thoughts so I can then create!
Love all of the red in this one. Great composition too! The light at the bottom leads the eye upward and right into the painting then settles pleasingly on the umbrella. A very soothing visual ride!
I'm so glad there are other artists that chase the rain with a camera! Isn't it just wonderful!!
Stress relief - painting a scene youve done before but with an brush that is way to big for the painting and just have fun..put a limit on your time..so you dont get all fiddly! Tones will become all important
Jema, I like that notebook idea. A good way to find out what is really bothering us as well!
Gwen thanks for your always insightful comments.
Mike, I will try that idea for sure. sounds like fun after a lot of work.
