Heading Up the Mountain, Hamilton On
16x20 Oil on canvas
This was a difficult subject. There was a lot going on, and it was a challenge to portray the "mountain" in the background as well as include the TH&B Railway bridge that crosses James Street at Hunter.
HOLY FRIG THIS IS AWESOME You are painting up a storm lately and they are amazing! There is a lot going on and it captures the scene perfectly. I love you my darling and your gorgeous work!
Wow.... I would have lost my mind trying to get all that was going on in this scene. Not only did you include it all, you masterfully brought it together with you palette and brush strokes.
Oh, and I love Reminiscence of Summer. Awesome colors and shadow play and your composition to highlight both is genius!
This is absolutely stunning. The mountain is perfectly portrayed and I love the colors. I had a dream that I was visitng your city and the scenery was as breath taking as you depict it. Kay
Wow, I think this one is really special!!! It's got it all, with the great lead in and sense of atmosphere. Love your colors too. Your palette is truly your own!
Where have I been? You've painted a gallery full since I last visited! And beautiful ones, too. The light, composition, and then the stunning bits of color tucked away here and there are wonderful. It feels like the cold low winter sun, with just a hint of the spring soon to come.
Catherine, I come by way of Dreama's blog...and what a delight to peruse your works...really enjoyed the street scenes (and the snow scene in previous post) > i look forward to following your work! Wishing you continued Happy Painting!
WOW Catherine this work does not look like a struggle AT ALL..love the patterning of the stop lights and as always , the well executed brushwork and reflections--yet you've made the whole painting alive with spontaneity! * did you receive my email re a possible show at our gallery? My partners like your work..if interested let me know?
Hi Catherine, I am glad your work is so appreciated! This painting alone can make you famous andI hope you will enter it for some BIG competition! Thank you for visiting my blog, still working on the mountaintop tea garden!
I enlarged this one - it is soooo gorgeous. I love how the red lights lead you back into the painting and the headlights coming towards you (and even though they are just suggested you know what they are) Brilliant.

This is such a familiar sight. Painting contre-jour like this is always a challenge but you have done marvelously.

If this was difficult for you, rest assured that it doesn't show. You are a painting machine lately and they are all excellent.
