Snow Plow on King Street, Dundas

8x10 oil on canvas
I have attempted to paint snow storms before, with limited success. I am so captivated by them, they are magical. Snow flakes fly everywhere, colors are all soft and muted. But its these muted colors that make it a challenge, as there are few shadows and colors to delineate things. Last year we had several wonderful snow storms, and I took many photos. (Challenging as well) I ran into the middle of the street for this one. This snow plow lifts up his side blade to avoid hitting parked cars.

Love this one Catherine - I have been hoping we would get some snow soon so I can try some winter scenes as well.

This is great! Nothing like a snow plow to define "snow"! :)

Oh Catherine this is wonderful! Snow is very challenging for me to paint. [probably because I don't see much of it.] I love the color palette you chose to indicate snow falling and snow that has fallen. The reoccurring bits of red and orange are just perfection!

This painting is excellent, Catherine! I do not know snow storms at all, but your painting truly evokes the feeling! It is amazing that you get excited by storms in stead of complaining! And as always, I love your vehicles, they have a tendency to look "friendly"!

You really succeeded with this one...I can feel the chill! Really nice work! Love the way the red ground shows through and gives the snow that reflective bounce that snow gets from the lights.

I have heard that some people LOVE snowy weather! You have captured it beautifully!

Catherine, I love this one! The colors and tones feel very real while keeping a wonderful looseness with strokes.

Glad I found you! I'm following!
Cheers,
Claire

Catherine, I believe this is the first modern "snow storm painting" I have seen and you nailed it! It brings back all those memories of frozen fingers and toes and noses. Thats why I moved to Florida. Well done, as always.
