Taxis on Yonge, Toronto

8x10 acrylic on panel Sold
Another acrylic scene. Sometimes I get on a tangent, and have to get it out of my system. I want to see how much pure color I can add to the scene, without losing the mood, and apply this to my oil paintings. Somehow it seems easier to experiment with acrylic paints. I think my Nov 30 post "November Rain" could use some more pure color highlights. Still debating if I should change the painting.
The signature colors of Toronto's Beck Taxi are in the foreground.

Catherine, this series is amazing...on and on it goes! Wet streets and lonely, forlorn-looking cars and people....and the sky darkish...I do think I am beginning to detect something of an isolation in all the city buzz! Each car, each person in their own private world. This is what great art is all about!

eooww I like this too! These acrylics are very lively--are you working in quicker motion w acrylic? more of an immediate feel..btw your paintings are up at JAG and today I-as well as visitors- really enjoyed perusing them--the way you treated the canvas re textured under-painting not only gives them another dimension but they really do emulate rain...and you are a master at values--

I think the colors in this piece are wonderful. Growing up in Detroit, we often vacationed in Toronto, and I remember Yonge St. looking just like this - alive and full of people all night long.

You really know how to use the wet city scape to be seen as real. Love the color and all of the reflections.
