Thanks for your comments, Mayra and Rishi. Marie, I am still working on the large painting. I loosened up some areas, and did some work on reflections, but I thought I'd leave it again for a bit and look at it with a refreshed attitude :)
Just beautiful Catherine. I am in love with the way you handle the buildings in the background, how they kind of melt into the sky and how the sky really feels like light.
Hi Catherine, Its nice to be on your blog. You are such a fantastic artist. The subject and composition of this painting is awesome. Colors are beautiful. You have one more follower...:)
Catherine your diagonals and placement of shapes in your recent work really give them push and pull--then the juxtaposition of the figure adds such a dialogue with the viewer! (and i find those subtle stokes emphasizing weather movement intriguing-- ie HOW and when? a glaze at the end or in the underpainting or during? DON"T tell me--the mystery is in the art:-)
The diagonals in this work increase the power and movement. This lady is definately in a rush, with her head down trying to out manouver the rain. Strong primary colors. Kay

This is a very wonderful painting so simple and full of color! The perspective just draws you into the space.

I so admire the way you render rain. One of these days I'm going to try it. Only after studying many of your paintings first.
