16x20 Oil on Canvas
I started this during our recent rainfall a couple of days ago. I liked the abstract quality of the signs and doorways and the buildings in the distance. The street was surprisingly devoid of cars. At the right hand side is the entrance way to the Zanaibar Club..a renowned "strip joint" that has been there for at least 50 years.

I love this painting! What a beautiful abstract quality it has. I love the way the light shimmers on the street! The touches of pure color are wonderful! Again -Beautiful!
Wow,Catherine! This one is very good.I like the contrasts of the grays on left half and the vibrant patches of colors on the right!
This is great Catherine, you have really captured the light. When I enlarged it I could feel the wet of the day - incredible.

I love this painting. The shapes of the signs are definately interesting and complex. You have captured the reflections in the pavement so well. Merry Christmas. Kay
How different a city can look in the rain, a whole different place when the sun shines. You are a master at these rainy scenes, it reminds me of London where I grew up too.
These rainy-day scenes are really turning into signature pieces for you. I was going to do a rain scene the other day and thought, "no, they will just think that I am trying to do a Catherine Jeffrey".
Thank you again for your thoughtful comments on my blog, I especially appreciate them because I admire your work so much.
lovely painting , those leading lines provided by street makes the painting
Seems whenever I view one of your paintings, I get the sensation of being there. I can also hear and feel the scene. Almost like an "experience".
Beautiful, engaging painting, Catherine!

Blast! Had I known that you were going to be in the vicinity of the Zanzibar, I would have worked it into the picture of your flat tire!
And would have gotten the "Little House of Kebobs" in it to boot!
I could swear I commented on this, but I don't see it. So I probably am losing my mind. I'll just have to tell you again how I like your perspective and vanishing point in this painting!!
Great painting, Catherine. I love the reflections and the atmosphere.
How did I miss this beauty?? What a gorgeous painting! The larger version really shows that fantastic brushwork. Great color and "wet" feel!
as I scroll down your blog THIS is the stunner! All your work is great---but this one stopped me!
