December Sun, James Street Hamilton

Before the snow falls, the December landscape is grey and brown and dreary. It is dark at 5:30.  It requires  just the right timing to catch the sinking sun as it casts a warm glow on these buildings on James Street in the Hammer. This is another value study, trying to focus on shapes and not the details. Still difficult to do.

I like the streams of light stretching out from underneath the car. The sky and the barren trees are lovely also.

Lovely values and composition and a very familiar sight.

Thank you so much Catherine for your advice regarding participating in online contests and other places. That was really helpful. I want more exposure and recognition, of course! But then I also need to sell my work since I've opted for art as my career!
This is a fine painting.Love the colors and the perfect values!

I love this piece. The glow of light streaming under the cars is awesome - there is just enough detail and lots of great brush marks. Way to go Catherine!

Fantastico! My favourite part is the sky with the tree branches sooo pretty.
Simply breathtaking my darling! Send me one of your paintings and I'll smuggle it into the Louvre Banksy-style.
